business Edward J bro 25 Margaret Court fora Massachusetts I'm here representing the um Maplewood neighborhood association um we're requesting a tree be put in at Maplewood Park um preferably by the sign uh where uh Ron s big and and uh in memory of Ron bigny who everybody should know or don't know was uh was a member of our Organization for many many years and had a lot to do in the city and was very well respected

and did a lot for our neighborhood association so we're requesting we' like to put a tree in all we're asking is for the park Department possibly put a hole we'll by the tree and we'll plant it ourselves with uh with your permission that's it so just uh give a little bit of feedback uh yeah if we do approve this I had already reached out to our superintendent up at the cemetery in the

tree division Chris Martin okay he will be the one that uh if we approve this will work with you guys toate that okay should I call him directly if no no no Miss Smith Miss Smith will reach out to you and and you in contact if we do approve this but um uh he'll reach out to you Miss Smith when the time is right okay will it be done prior to uh the

season they know when the best time is because before the ground freezing and all thatu we're going to plant it need they'll have to decide it it'll need to be planted within the next week or so so I don't know are you purchasing this tree from like a nursery yes we are and it probably delivered the day of okay so I I can speak to whatever the board decides if that's what they decide to do

I can speak to the gentleman from the tree Department we've I've coordinated did this like with different things with the Garden Club okay and they usually you guys would arrange the tree being living we would have the crew there to dig the ho put the tree in but I would think that we our window of opportunity now closing so if we don't get it soon it'll have to be something that's done

in the spring but if it's something the association is looking to do and the board approves it we can try to do that within the next couple of weeks especially if the association is purchasing the tree that takes all of the you know the purchasing system out of the city's hands so I can be in touch with you um I can they approve I'll speak to Mr Martin tomorrow I can reach out to you Mr bro

um I'll just leave me your number on this piece of paper and I can give you a call once we settle the business okay you set around you'll have your answer with probably next let the Niagara neighborhood know when you you plant that tree when you have you're going to have a uh a ceremony we'll have's family there and yeah okay so when we get to that agenda might we'll talk more about it all right thank

you uh no other citizen inut to come before the board he close citizen input uh acceptance of minutes from the October 4th 2023 regular Park board meeting motion to accept second commissioner Rego made a motion to accept uh second by commissioner faras all in favor say I I new business item a is request from the greater for R Recreation the use of Kennedy Park South Main Street for the

holiday parade kickoff at 1 pm on December 2nd 2023 annual event motion to ex second commissioner Rego made that motion seconded by commissioner farus all in favor say I I Item B request from um request and invitation from the veterans officer Roland veterans parade to be held on November 11th 2023 set up at vien Lee Veterans Memorial Park with band station along with a route at at North Park north and Highland

Park make a motion to accept it than second commissioner Faris made that motion seconded by commissioner Rego all in favor say I

I item C is a thank you letter from the dases uh for the use of Kennedy Park for their annual procession of peace that was held last month make a motion place on F second commissioner fos made that motion second by commissioner Regal all in favor say I I item d letter from Maplewood neighborhood association request for permission to plant a memorial treat on behalf of their member Mr Ron sey who

recently passed make a motion the Tre second and uh I just have um you uh amend the motion that uh they work with Mr Smith and Mr Mountain to go through all the yes as long as you work with Mr Martin and uh M Mr Smith commissioner far made that motion second by commissioner all in favor say I hi M Smith you're item e uh Al ala director of City uh operations to appear before the board

to update status of Park projects I got a call from Mr olera yesterday that he was unable to attend tonight's meeting he said that he would like to attend uh the December's meeting to update this but uh uh there are some items that here uh we're going to be working with him um in uh through emails and everything to see if we can get done uh sooner rather than later um because time's of the

essence so uh um until then U I'll update you guys more uh in the December meeting so we're just gonna table for now I would guess table Yeah table is item table uh I made a motion to table second commissioner Rego made commissioner Ferris made a motion to table second by commissioner Regal all in favor say I okay commissioner inquiries anybody have Comm any inquiries okay I just have a uh one

um so yesterday I was driving up to won Square uh last month we had uh Mr pirano here uh we've had DCM put barrels out there and then uh Miss Smith had her Park uh staff go by cornered it off again because I didn't want nobody cutting through there because it trip hazards and everything so when Mr Pano came here said that some of the work was going to be possibly done inhouse and everything

as yesterday when I went by there there is temporary fencing now put up and three piles of bricks so when I asked uh Mr Pano T about that he just said to update the board was uh there uh he's going to be kind of considered like the general contractor to just try to save money because of the budget and everything and that um what they're doing is whatever work they can do

inhouse on overtime or if they have guys free to do um they will do and then some of the Contra some of the other work that needs to be done will get contracted out U to try to save funds and everything so that can't came up the budget but um other than that that's pretty much it but what what the bricks is for is what was there they're ripping them up and they

just they take them said we don't know who's ripping them up it's city workers I don't know who but he said that's it's in house okay so I know okay uh any other board okay uh I'd like to on behalf of the park board Commissioners uh wish uh all our veterans a happy Veterans Day and also uh and thank you for your service and sacrifice also wish everybody a Happy Thanksgiving and happy

holidays Miss you're speeding things up here can you stop at things well we we ain't GNA be here but thanks going to be here next oh December 6 that December so you're going to request Mr alar here for December 6th but in the me time try to see if we can get some of the answers because some of these be honest with you especially the fireworks one we need to we need to pin

that down or else we will be yeah that well that was going to be my question is there a priority list on these as far as like which ones are the most pressing they're all okay they're all pretty pressing because some of them the funding expires in June and if the architect work is not even out yet sometimes there's issues sometimes the bids take more than one round of bidding so

we the sooner we move on all of this the better off we're going to be so maybe we can solve some of it in the meantime um hope hopefully we can because like he said time is pretty pressing yet okay do I have a motion to adjourn motion to adjourn commissioner rer made that motion do I have a second second second by commission McDonald all in favor say I I we're rejourn
