okay uh roll call commissioners I think the various Helen Rigo Joseph de Solo acceptance of the minutes from the regular board meetings held on 3-1 23 and 4 5 23. motion to accept I'll make a motion uh motion to accept was made by commissioner Rigo second by commissioner farius all in favor is AI citizen input just uh the two of them yeah yeah I call up Katrina and channel for the affordable

art project home sub mural would you like to go channel name and yeah Chandler Fall River arts project Bay Street Katrina Meyers Fall River arts project Fall River 505 Bay Street so we went and sat in front of the um historical commission last month and laid out the plans for the homestead mural and they got back to us it was a very nice uh enthusiastic support letter I don't know if you saw we have hard copies

so except this uh make a motion to accept this for the record give me the motion the place on file thanks second Smith okay I've seen the emails that you were responding just to let you guys know just to give you an update myself Miss Smith Mr to me and I uh we're going to be meeting tomorrow at nine o'clock is it in top nine or ten ten o'clock tomorrow opened with the

approved a few months back for the young man that uh tragically died there a couple of years back already so uh they're just having a memorial service now there and the dedication uh any questions from any Commissioners no do we have a motion to approve motion to approve second commissioner Rigo made that motion seconded by Commissioners various all in favor say aye aye hi item C request from Wendy rubatile

request to paint uh Prince of diversity artwork in Kennedy Park Bradford Avenue just uh state your name and uh address for the record Wendy robito City Osborne Street Apartment three Fall River Mass 02720 I had set up a PowerPoint to send everybody unfortunately it was last minute and I didn't get a chance to send it I do have a copy and I can read from that to explain to you exactly what this is and

where this came from I'd like to if I can enter this yep unfortunately make a motion to enter this into the record file motion to enter you need a copy to read no I have it right on my phone okay so yeah yeah uh commissioner farius made a motion seconded by commissioner Rigo all in favor say aye the Fall River arts and culture Coalition and TDI together created an an ignition fund um they picked 10 artists

twenty five hundred dollars and we had to utilize 750 to a project that would be done here in the city um and it would be with artwork I applied in March at the end of March and I won however I had to come in front of the park board my idea is this and I will read from the PowerPoint to explain this to you the ignition fund Grant Florida arts and culture Coalition Frack

with funding provided by the TDI creative Catalyst grant program administered by mass development created the ignition fund Grant my project was one of the ten picked as winners for this opportunity that included creating and implementing a project that included Place keeping Place making and peacekeeping when is received twenty five hundred dollars Prince of diversity painting outlines of the shoes or hands

of 40 diverse volunteer community residents of Fall River on the sidewalk around Kennedy Park having volunteer community artists of all ages paint the shoes and hand outlines 10 sidewalk squares on each side of upper Kennedy will have the outline of a pair of shoes or an outline of hands a total of 20 handprint outlines and 20 pairs of shoes outlines will be created diverse handprints and shoe prints will brighten

the outside of Kennedy Park for all to see and enjoy on a regular day or when an event is happening why Kennedy Park perfect for Place making and peacekeeping Kennedy Park hosts feasts and events that bring in thousands of residents Kennedy Park is located in the dense part of the city located on a Main Street many residents walk around the top of Kennedy as well as many children play sports at the top of Kennedy

benefits to the community when thinking of diversity one thing makes us all unique and it is our handprints and Footprints as no two are the same the residents and artists chosen to help will feel a sense of belonging as they will be able to be part of something that will be permanent and shine Delight on how diverse course of a community we are this display will attract public attention brighten the park educate

others and ignite conversations about diversity and then included is the timeline because I was given until the end of August to have this implemented so this was something I applied to I did win 750 dollars has to be put into this I am willing to pay everything to have this done now in thinking about this because this had to be done in March very quickly I've since walked around Kennedy

I live right near it there are 200 squares on one side and it is beautiful brand new sidewalk what I did notice Broadway in between middle and Bradford Ave Bradford yes Bradford Ave it is not new sidewalk it is old tar pavement I would like if I can after putting this in now that I've looked around Kennedy I would like to use that space put the handprints and footprints on that it's not brand new sidewalk it

would embellish it and as long as there are no plans to update it anytime soon there's only a couple of cracks in it it would make it look nice where was this spot again I'm sorry that is in between along Broadway in between middle and I have a picture of it yeah that's all coming down yes it's like tar it's not brand new sidewalk from that point to the end I

figured this is where we could put these handprints instead of all around Kennedy because you got beautiful sidewalks because I know like that Center sidewalk that cuts through the pot yes that's horrible that's all broken up and I know there might be plants to replace that yeah I would hate to have you guys do this and then three months later they're digging all the sidewalks up that's why

I figured the Broadway I noticed that there are two cracks in between that but it is pave and talk or tar so in the end of the day if we do do it and it does get redone I'm willing to sustain this project to make this a permanent thing in forever I will even pay for a sign to be put at the top in the park that says Prince of diversity and each year have

people come in and re-brighten it if it's been ruined in any way shape or form okay um Charlie Charlie Charlie can you come up for a minute is there any uh do you know of is there any plans to do any of them sidewalks around Kennedy this year or anything no there we don't have any immediate plans to address any little sidewalks right now as you know Bradford Ave some of them been addressed the

relatively recently yeah but uh no media plans to have any of those adjustments no no all right how do you guys feel any questions I agree and I'm sorry for coming so late but the deadline was the end of March and then I can get and still regardless of anything I can get a letter of support from Frack I work with I've worked with Linda Pelletier um Carol Fiola she's saying some of my

work so I can get these letters of support even if that's needed to add to all of this I still think you have to go see the mayor

yep all right so why don't we uh we can we can make him aware yeah you don't want him to just say who's this person we can make the mayor where by the package you gave me I can copy that package and forward it on so he'll know yeah what you're talking about if you happen to call his office and ask to make an appointment I think ultimately is that

what I would have to do because I think this is my personal opinion of course is I think the board can table it yep I think the board if the board wants the mayor's input the board can take the information that um Wendy gave us tonight forward it to the mayor's office and say you know that we tabled this they're going to get letters of support they will be coming back to the June

meeting for final approval because she's got to finish it by August I Do by the end of August and then we'll say that she wants she was picking the area of the pavement area between middle and Bradford Avenue because that's not on the power of point on Broadway right yeah and I also think if that's the case any any concerns that the administration may have then they can be discussed

before the whole thing's finalized if that's what Helen you know the concern Helen has that's the way to go about it I don't I think if the if the mayor is needs to speak personally with Wendy then he can reach out to her but I think if we present the information this is what came before us we just want you to be aware of what's going on and we'd like your input then

you know Joey you can have a meeting yourself you can't go with the group but you can speak with the mayor try to get his input on the project and get this answer for just like we did with Katrina if we have to present that project I think we have to present this if I may uh also allow us some time where we could check with the city engineer and see if he has any uh

long-range plans or short range but address those sidewalks okay all right so do I have a motion to table this until the next meeting oh the table I'll make a motion to table it will check with the administration see how they feel um so my motion is going to be to table it and forward the administration the information so that they can get back to you with their input and then it can be addressed or at

sorry about that wanna amend that motion until I make a motion to amend that motion add that to the motion I just wanted to make sure I was recording it correctly so I'll copy him on this information as well no problem item D request from John Lynch dedication the group that proposed to install for sneaker McDonald and his wife at Lafayette Hawk baseball field it's right there where is it no what is it I paid

to accept this nope you mean the additional information okay

so um the dimensions are on the other page if you uh guys uh recall

a few months back we had gave this group a permission to start uh appetite uh soliciting donations and not to do this sort of Monument uh so now they have donations and have the monument ready to go I believe and not a just requesting to see if they can install it now to have our permission to install it I have a dedication at a future date

so if you have any questions any questions uh Commission commissioner Rigo made the motion to approve second that motion seconded by commissioner Ferry is all in favor say aye all right

I know we accepting that location are we going to work with them with the location how do you want to handle that uh make a motion it's uh work with uh I'll make a motion that we uh had them work with Mrs Smith have them work with you on the location you know it's not gonna and also I would uh also include uh to me because I know that I think they're

item e requests from greater forward Recreation for approval of various Park sites for the city why 2023 lunch program starting on June 28th through August 25th this is an annual event oh well not event but every year every program that they do this every year second hey most uh Commissioner of uh virus made that motorcycle by commissioner Rio all in favor say aye aye itemf request from mayor Coogan the use

of Bicentennial Veterans Memorial Park on Tuesday July 4th for the performance by the 215th Army ban from 7 to 9 pm in possible vendors slash food trucks promotion to approve motions are approved by commissioner Rigo seconded by commissioner nefarious all in favor say aye aye item G request from William S Greene Elementary School for the use of Pulaski Park on Warren Street on Tuesday June 6

from 9 A.M to 3 P.M with a rain date Thursday June 8th this is an annual event that the school uses for their annual Field Day celebration I make a motion to accept motions are accepted by commissioner farius second uh by commissioner uh Rigo all in favor say aye hey commissioner inquiries on the commissioner inquiries can't wait to come in and shoot here for something but that was for those dedications um

we already approved your uh stuff yeah we already did it so it's already approved so okay it's up to you if you want to come up that's fine we can call you this is uh this is a young lady and uh the mom of the young man that passed away uh for the dedication Memorial bench yep so this is the plaque okay all right yep all right and you can give that too yeah

you give that to Mr Smith that her uh workers will take care of it everything's here for it it's very nice we all got you around we got your things unfortunately I won't be able to work on Thursdays but hopefully the rest of the Commissioners can make that okay I'll be there in spirit though thanks you're welcome you're welcome no problem sorry for your loss again thank you okay commissioner inquiries ready

commission requires okay just a little I'll give you a little report uh what's going on so I know we a couple of my I went to Maple Woods uh dedication and um opening opening day a couple of weeks back uh commissioner Rigo went to uh Kennedy Parks this past week but just to give you an update on the lights uh they're uh starting to uh do the boss to put the uh new lighting fixtures in that

in uh what we're gonna be doing in once they get everything going we're gonna have like a little ceremony there that um the pockboard CPC group Miss Smith child everybody uh Chris everybody that's involved in this project the mayor and everything will uh like they do on any of the last beam yep we're going to sign the last uh setter fixture of lights and then they'll erect it and uh names everybody that was

involved in the project will be forever there and then when they take it down in 30 years they can do it I'm gonna be a legend I don't know that the rest of you told you hey I'm waiting Charlie I'm waiting for the day that we get the memorial for uh Nancy Smith not at the Kennedy five digging in the Statue of Liberty based on values uh just uh again I think you might want

to even mention it'll be on that agenda next month yeah the board um oh yes yes having a bench this reminds me of it installed in memory of uh commissioner Sylvia so um I did order a few more benches so what's that is all settled and they start doing the uh concrete we'll get a placard like this as well but I think we should just put it on a next month's agenda so that it's voted

on appropriately like we have others vote on their benches and we all follow the same rules right I think it was a very good idea now I was told that we're planting a lot of trees at Kennedy Park this week you're planting them I we didn't plant them we had Northeast tree has that contract it's funny I had I had company from Virginia and they're the ones that told

me well no that's the part of the plan when Chris perrano came that was the member city-wide plan yeah that's part of that it's like 600 trees being throughout the whole community so they've done it all along Tucker Street near the shopping center we're near CVS in front of the shopping come out of sidewalks in certain areas yes yeah yeah because that's how I got mine too I got mine in

front of my own people across the street from me want to do it's not on history on the other side they just put their name in they can request okay I'll tell them yep what they did a Kennedy Park commission is they took down the old trees yeah some that got either hit by car accidents or something took them out stumped grinded them out and then replaced all the new

ones so that way the tree lines are all pretty much back together and then uh yeah my grandchildren told me and then they planted some along they planted some along the top of Kennedy and that's where myself and Miss Smith looked uh if the board approves for commissioner sovia uh Memorial bench yeah there's a nice area that'll be between two trees that will look over the tomb playing field so that way he
