The City of Fall River and Viva Fall River held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on May 21, 2024, to unveil the new City Trolley. This initiative, funded by a travel and tourism grant from the state of Massachusetts, aims to provide residents and visitors with a new way to explore Fall River's unique charm and history. The trolley will operate a 12-stop visitor loop on Saturdays and Sundays from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with a flat rate of $5 for adults and free rides for children under 12. Specialized tours, including a "Wings on the Wapa bird watching experience" at the bio reserve funded by a Massachusetts Office of Outdoor Recreation grant, are also being developed. Mayor Paul Coogan, State Representative Carol Fiola, Director of City Operations Al Aliva, and Director of Grants Jasmine Pereira were recognized for their integral roles in bringing the project to fruition. The city also announced upcoming tourism initiatives, including a new tourism website and a water taxi service.

4:15from Delaware um and they thought we could do it in house and they obviously the results speak for themselves it looks absolutely great we hope everybody takes a turn to get on it um those guys work tirelessly on weekends and with the match from the grant we were able to to make sure everybody got paid for their hard effort and that's what it's about the person that actually found the
4:35trolley in Delaware was our director of Grants Jasmine Pereira uh she works right down the hall for me and she knows I'm involved in everything so she'd walk down with a website how about this one no how about this one no don't like that one how about this one finally she brought me this one and I said that one looks good we ended up sending one of our mechanics from the fire department
4:57down to do an evaluation of it we bought it uh it's a used trolley that's been spruced and brought back to life by Al alera and his crew and it's going to do a lot of good things for the city it's for rent it's going to do a loop and people can use it for their events to get around the city of Fall River we want people to be exposed it's going to
5:15be a different way to ride and we want people to use it it's very important part of our entire tourism scheme I think later in the week we'll be doing another press conference on our water taxi which should be coming to fruition very very quickly so we're going to have a different combination things going on in the city of Fall River Rock the Dock is right here on the 4th of July Take Me
5:34to the River from Narrows is right here I'm not sure of the date that's coming up and all of our fourth of July celebrations are going to be down on this Waterfront Rock to the dock is June 1 any questions for me anybody got any questions thees I think it's $5 we settled on for a flat rate you can do the whole 10 stop Loop and get off and
5:55we'll pick you back up on the next one through and children under 12 free and children under 12 free thank you Pat yeah can I just ask what the what the loop is absolutely so I hope I can remember all of them but there are 12 stops it starts at the um right across the street from the Maritime Museum the next stop is Columbia Street the one after that is
6:15uh St ANS and I'm just naming them it's not necessarily we're not dropping them off like right at that area but it's just to give you a familiarity after that would be St Mary's the uh St Mary's Lizzie bordon area um after that is uh Troy Street which is kind of an introduction to the lower Highland then we have the Little Theater Fire Barn which covers the historic Highlands uh the next hop after that is oako
6:35Cemetery Lizzy bordon grave which is a super popular tourist attraction um from there it goes to portugalia Marketplace which is obviously one of our our great assets uh after that it goes to the Purchase Street dining District where there's a lot of new things happening uh from there it takes a right on North Main goes to the children's museum for that whole area and the the the Railroad
6:56Museum of course then it goes straight to Bicentennial park where you have you know over six uh War memorials to um View and then the last stop on the loop is the Lafayette dery House which I'm really happy that we were able to uh make that happen and then it goes back and does it all over again so the loop should uh theoretically take about an hour and what's the time frame again
7:15time day when it start sure 9: to 4 on Saturdays and Sundays and that you know of course if there is a rental because we do hope that this is you know a a great Revenue generator then we would put that on um there's a there's a ticketing system there's a Tracker a real-time tracker so you'll be able to know when it's coming we're not just going to have people like waiting at
7:32stops um there's been a lot of thought and a lot of research that went into this so um the you'll be able we'll we'll give people plenty of notice ahead of time if it's not going to be running but we hope that you know it's this is just a pilot season and then hopefully to add more more days as time goes on anything else guys well thank you I hope everybody takes a walk through the
